Food Export Strengthens Cold Chain Capabilities for Importers in the Dominican Republic

In December 2022, Food Export–Midwest & Northeast hosted an educational Cold Chain Seminar in Santo Domingo, designed to strengthen the technical capabilities of Dominican food importers handling refrigerated and frozen products. The event provided essential insights into best practices that directly impact product quality, safety, and shelf life throughout the supply chain.

The seminar featured expert presentations from Marco León, a specialist in the handling and distribution of perishable products, and Salvador Figueroa, a consultant in global logistics. Their sessions covered key topics such as temperature control, preventing cold-chain breaks, the importance of proper packaging, and the latest digital trends in logistics.

Additionally, Theresa Miller presented Food Export’s programs and services, highlighting the tools available to support small and medium-sized U.S. companies seeking to expand into international markets. Her presentation connected local importer needs with the export opportunities offered through Food Export’s initiatives.

Thanks to the coordination of Food Export’s team, the in-market representative, and the Global Cold Chain Alliance, the seminar became a key initiative supporting improved cold chain practices in the region and strengthening commercial ties between U.S. suppliers and Dominican importers.
